    At Kinesia Pilates, we get to know you and develop a plan based on your needs that helps you meet your unique goals Our instruction is highly personalized and delivered via individually tailored one-on-one sessions or very small groups. In every case, we teach you how to modify exercises to meet your needs.

    We build long-term relationships based on trust and respect which allows us to keep track of what is working and what isn’t. As your goals and needs change, we continuously update your plan.

    Learn an empowering approach that encourages you to own the work for yourself. We teach you the goals of the exercises and how to modify them to support your body’s needs.

     

    Learn how to use the reformer and other specialized equipment so you have control of how to use the equipment safely. We also teach the mat with small props as part of the system so you can do the work successfully wherever you are.

    We work to create a welcoming, supportive environment where you can dramatically improve flexibility, posture, and coordination. You do not have to be in good shape to get started. We will start wherever you are and work at the pace the feels right for you.

Kinesia Pilates is dedicated to preserving and teaching the exercises and philosophy of the Joe Pilates “Contrology” method.

Our teachers are skilled movement professionals with deep training in a variety of kinesthetic arts and sciences. We encourage our teachers to utilize their background training in their teaching style.

Kinesia Pilates mission is to teach everybody who has a desire to learn --- from beginner to professional -- life-long functional movement skills for self-care and for caring for others.

Our teaching approach is posture focused, emphasizing functional movement, mind/body connections, centering, shaking up habits, and having fun in movement.

 

We emphasize  energetic, sustainable workouts, believing, as Joseph Pilates said:

"Contrology is the complete coordination of mind, body, and spirit".

PROTECTING THE WORK OF JOSEPH PILATES

We are certified to teach the exercises and philosophies of Joseph and Clara Pilates, as handed down to their world-renowned protégé Romana Kryzanowska and her daughter Sari Mejia Santo.

Joseph H. Pilates was born in Germany in 1883 and immigrated to the United States in the 1920s. He dedicated his entire life to creating a system of exercise to help people attain excellent physical health and manage the stress of modern living. 

 

After Joseph's death in 1967, his wife Clara Pilates continued the studio they founded in New York City for a few more years. In 1970, Romana became the director of what was by that time called "The Pilates Studio." Romana dedicated her life to preserving the work as closely as possible to what she learned teaching by his side.

 

She traveled for 60-years educating the next generation of Pilates teachers and forming an elite group of new teacher trainers to carry Pilates masterwork into the future.
