Kinesia Pilates is dedicated to preserving and teaching the exercises and philosophy of the Joe Pilates “Contrology” method. Our teachers are trained and certified in a direct lineage from Joe Pilates to Romana Kryzanowska.
Our teachers are skilled movement professionals with deep training in a variety of kinesthetic arts and sciences. We encourage our teachers to utilize their background training in their teaching style.
Kinesia Pilates mission is to teach everybody who has a desire to learn --- from beginner to professional -- life-long functional movement skills for self-care and for caring for others.
Our teaching approach is posture focused, emphasizing functional movement, mind/body connections, centering, shaking up habits, and having fun in movement.

Joseph H. Pilates was born in Germany in 1883 and immigrated to the United States in the 1920s. He dedicated his entire life to creating a system of exercise to help people attain excellent physical health and manage the stress of modern living.
After Joseph's death in 1967, his wife Clara Pilates continued the studio they founded in New York City for a few more years. In 1970, Romana became the director of what was by that time called "The Pilates Studio." Romana dedicated her life to preserving the work as closely as possible to what she learned teaching by his side.
She traveled for 60-years educating the next generation of Pilates teachers and forming an elite group of new teacher trainers to carry Pilates masterwork into the future.
